The Sacramento Zoo consists of a magnificent collection of rare and endangered animals set among majestic, hundred-year-old oaks and unique gardens. Of the many endangered/threatened animals in the zoo, there are eight species of primates, six species of felines and six species of turtles/tortoises. Located in William Land Park in Sacramento, California, it opened in June of 1927 with 40 animals. Now home to over 600 animals, the Sacramento Zoo is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon!
